Beautiful country and wonderful people.ĭo you think being extensively exposed to both Western and Indian music and studying music in a foreign country has been a contributing factor in enabling you to bring something unique to Indian music? I got a chance to excel in what I love and become independent. You studied music in one of the top universities in Australia, Monarsh, how was that experience?Īustralia was one of the best experiences in my life as it taught me a lot. They are also more universal as instruments so they get used more often in my songs. They are extremely difficult instruments and I ended up doing my bachelor of music specializing in saxophone and flute. You’re well known for predominantly playing the flute and saxophone, why these two instruments from all the different ones you were introduced to as a child?Īs a child I was very fascinated by the saxophone and the flute. One of my favorite tracks till date… after that there was no stopping me. I still remember that first song I played on it was ‘Hai Apana Dil To Aawara’. My first instrument was the Harmonica at the age of 4. Do you remember what it first felt like to pick up a musical instrument? You’ve heard his notes, you’ve heard his voice now meet the musician himself in our exclusive interview. Known as the first multi-instrumental pop star of India, his is a unique sound that is fusion of many different styles with the influence of many different types of world music. The first of his independent albums was For The First Time followed by 24 Carat and the recently released Play It Loud. Prior to debuting as a composer in films, Raghav delivered three immensely successful independent albums which included some of the top singers of Bollywood today including Kunal Ganjawala and Sunidhi Chauhan. He made his debut in Hindi film music with Yash Raj Film’s Kabul Express and continued to make a mark with One Two Three, featuring the excellent tracks ‘Gup Shup’ and ‘Rock Mahi’, followed by the wonderful ‘Rang’ on the recent release Haal E Dil.

He not only solely composes and arranges his songs, he also plays and sings on them as well.
